Indiana, referred by her vet's following
diagnosed ligament problems in both front feet and subsequent diagnosis of bone
spavin in the off side hock. Here seen enjoying her spa
treatment.

"When I found out that Indiana was to be on box res
for many months because of a problem both with ligament damage and bone spavin
- my heart sanl. She has always hated being indoors and had considerable
anxiety issues. In addition it was a requirement that she had controlled
walking 45 minutes daily. Working fulltime I could not give her the level of
care she needed. To cut a long story short I found Jo's place and Indiana
was duly installed. She underwent a programme of longterm box rest in a large
airy stable with other "confined equine patients" controlled exercise on the
horsewalker and a number of treatments in the hydrotherapy spa. Jo's vet,
farrier and physio worked together with Jo as a team to assess what worked best
for Indiana and over the space of a few months her whole physical self
improved. Towards the end of her stay she was allowed out in a small paddock
which was a real boost for her and she thrived emotionally as her pain and
tensions were reduced. She is now home and undergoing gentle exercise. She
is well and happy in herself and her feet look the best I've ever seen them.
She certainly seems as fit as a fiddle. There were times when I thought there
was no hope for her - now I look at her trotting around the field with that
"lame - who me" look in her eye and I know she has had a second lease of life -
due in the main to Jo's holistic approach to her care and a bit of
patience." Sarah V - Owner of Indiana |
"We thought we would have to shoot a young horse and now
he is back competing two months later - amazing" Ellen Blackburn - a Panama
Spa customer
"After the intial treatment for the acute phase of the
condition. Niamh was referred for four weeks hydrotherapy to the Panama Equine
Hydrotherapy Unit. She responded well to this treatment and, in my opinion, the
hydrotherapy was a significant factor in reducing her convalescence period and
hastening her return to ridden exercise" Elizabeth M Gorse - Rose Cottage
Veterinary Centre. BVetMed, MRCVS
